My Dad took me as a child to Vics and Witton matches occasionally. He deliberately didn't encourage me to support either team in particular. I chose to support Vics because of the better football, the club using the town's name and generally feeling more at home at the Drill Field. My earliest clear Vics memory was watching us play Witton at Wincham Park in about 1991 or 1992. The game wasn't segregated at the start but towards the end of the game most of the Vics fans were locked into one end of the ground until about 15 minutes after the end. Having to walk back to Northwich Station was a shock to the system as the bus had gone. My most vivid Drill Field memory was a school friend's 18th birthday party in the bar including karaoke; I sang “I should be so lucky” very badly! After finishing my degree at…

Compared to most Vics’ adult fans I am somewhat of a virgin as I didn’t start watching the trikkies until the mid 90’s when I moved from Newton le Willows to live in the town. Being a football fanatic it was obvious to me that I had to start watching the best football team in the town as soon as possible and so off I trotted to the Drill Field. At that time I simply stood on the terraces having bought a brew and applauded good play before walking around to the exit gates to leave at the final whistle and on many occasions shaking my head saying “well that’s it, they were rubbish and they won’t be seeing me again” only to return for the very next home game! Having “retired” early from British Gas in 1999 I joined Vics as Commercial Manager and enjoyed many various tasks including…

I have been a Vics fan for over forty years; seeing my first match on 23rd August 1969, when Vics lost 2-0 at home to South Shields in a Northern Premier League fixture. There have been many highlights over the years, including: The great F.A.Cup run of 1976/77 when Rochdale, Peterborough and Watford were beaten. I consider the 4-0 defeat of Peterborough as being the finest performance that I have seen from a Northwich team. Other F.A.Cup wins over Football League teams, Chester City, Crewe Alexandra and Bury. Playing a Premiership club, Sunderland in the F.A.Cup. Three F.A.Trophy final appearances at Wembley and the eventual winning of the competition in 1984 when Bangor City were beaten in a replay at Stoke. League Cup wins in finals against Wigan Athletic, Altrincham and most memorably, Martin O'Neil's Wycombe Wanderers - all achieved as underdogs. Being runners-up of the Northern Premier League in…

I have been involved in the Trust, on and off, since it was set up in 2004. During this period, there have been highs and lows both on and off the field, but hopefully we are about to enter a more stable period, once the adminstration issue is resolved. I've been a Vics fan since the 70's, following my dad's and grandad's footsteps. My early memories of Saturdays were them disappearing off to 'the football' in their flat caps and muffled up against the cold. Being the nosey thing I was (and still am!!) I couldn't wait to find out what 'the football' was all about and so as soon as possible I would go along with Dad to watch Vics. Some of the most memorable Vics matches I saw during this period were the rare 'away' matches. Dad and his mates from work would take me and my brother…

I was born on 11 March 1965, 15 minutes after my sister - which was massive shock to my Dad who arrived later that evening to find that he had now got four children, not the expected three! However, his surprise was somewhat less than my mother's who first knowledge about my arrival was, after delivering my sister Carol, when the midwife exclaimed "Don't stop now Mrs Wood, there is another one on the way!"   Despite this somewhat unexpected entry into the world, I somehow got my way through Grammar School and University (or Polytechnic as it was in the eighties) to become what I am now - a Chartered Civil Engineer. I'm currently employed as Head of External Engineering at Manchester Airport - which is a fascinating, challenging but hugely enjoyable job and a role that I feel proud and priviliged to hold.   I've been a Vics fan…
