On Tuesday 16th August Northwich Victoria Football Club will play their first ever game at the Victoria Stadium. This is something we have looked forward to for over three years and would not wish to miss.

Unfortunately, it is with great sadness that we find ourselves banned from the stadium and are therefore unable to join our friends, relatives and other supporters on this historic occasion. We are not hooligans but like many other supporters we were and still are concerned about the future of our football club.

We have asked our friends, relatives and other supporters not to boycott the game on Tuesday night. We would not want them to miss out but go along and support our team in the normal way.

We are livelong supporters of Northwich Victoria and also members of the Northwich Victoria Football Trust. The Trust have recently written to the owner Mr Connett on two occasions asking him to reconsider his decision. To date we have not been given any reasons as to why we have been banned. We are jointly writing to Mr Connett asking him to reconsider his decision in time for us to attend the opening league game.

Dear Mr Connett,

We enclose a statement sent to the Northwich Guardian and Northwich Chronicle yesterday for publication this week.

We also write to you to ask you to reconsider and lift the ban you have imposed on the three of us at the Victoria Stadium.

We have all been lifelong supporters of Northwich Victoria Football Club for the past thirty years and the present situation will not change that now or in the future. This is our home town football club which you have bought and own.

The support of a football team is an emotive, passionate pastime which at certain times can lead to things being said which the morning after all parties may have wished had been best left unsaid or said differently
