Trust News - October PDF Print E-mail

The first week in October has been hectic to say the least and potentially very concerning.

Within the last 2 weeks, the Trust Board received specific information suggesting that a major crisis at the Club was imminent. As information was gathered, it became clear that there?were 2 possible scenarios, facing NVFC(2004) Ltd?-

  1. the club being liquidated or
  2. another party, or parties, coming in to take over the club.

We have been working tirelessly to try to understand the situation at the Club and develop an action plan for how the Trust can help.

The Trust board agreed to contact Mr Connett to offer help and we sent the following e-mail to him:

FAO Mr M.Connett,

I am mailing you as Chair of the Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust.
We are obviously aware, from the information we are receiving from supporters and press reports, that the club may be experiencing problems that could result in it being placed in administration or liquidated. Beyond that we have no further information.
This is to make you aware that we are open to any approach from yourself, or other interested parties, if you think we could be of assistance.
Any such approach would be considered by the board and put to our members as a matter of urgency.
If you wish to pursue this offer please reply to this e-mail.
Peter Grimes
Chair, Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust.

This mail was obviously passed straight to Begbies-Traynor, who responded to the Trust.

What next?

We understand that there will be a statement from the club?this week. It may be that Mr Connett has a recovery plan, but from the information that we have had, we do not believe that the current set up lends itself to supporting a sustainable football club at Blue Square premier level. (ie the land and facilities owned by one company and the club by another)

The Trust Board believes that the future of NVFC lies with?starting a new club, next season, that will be owned and run by the fans through the Supporters Trust. This is where the Trust Board is focussing its efforts. As part of this, we will continue to keep you informed and seek your views? - if? it goes ahead, it will be OUR?club, a true community club.?

We are holding a meeting at The Floatel this coming Thursday (11th) at 8.00pm, where fans can ask questions of the Trust Board. We are also trying to get other people to attend who can shed some light on liquidation / administration issues and setting up a new Club.

This will be an open meeting but numbers are limited by the room size to about 80 and therefore we will give preference to trust members. In an attempt to manage this, we will admit Trust Members only up to 7.45pm and then open the doors to other fans, if possible. It is early days yet and you may have questions?for which we don't have answers, but we will try to answer what we can and seek answers where this is possible. Its also an opportunity for you to voice your opinion on what the Trust should be doing.

The next 12 months will not be easy in terms of the steep learning curve we will have to go through and the potential work load, but the fact that we can all be more open will make it a satisfying experience rather than an onerous chore. What we will have at the end of it will be ours, i.e.?

A club run by its fans for its fans, through a democratic and transparent supporters trust.

If you have any questions that you would like to raise, but can't get to the meeting, there are several ways you can contact us.

You can:

Notes from Thursday's meeting will be posted on the website (www.nvfc.co.uk) as soon as possible after the meeting and sent by e-mail and post, next weekend.

Together we can succeed.

Regards

Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust Board
