Stevenage 1 V 1 Vics

Steve King brought in defender Will Antwi on loan from Wycombe Wanderers and the former Crystal Palace and Aldershot player replaced the suspended Michael Welch. A second signing was named on the bench - giant teenage keeper Stuart Robinson who had a spell at Lewes, took the place of the unavailable Scott Tynan. Darryn Stamp led the attack along side Aaron Burns leaving the travelling fans with little doubt that their favourites had every intention of taking the game to the opposition.

And that particular selection paid off when STAMP put his side into a well deserved 28th minute lead. His far post header from a long Winn free kick squirmed underneath the home keeper. The home side had failed to trouble an encouraging solid Northwich although Mitchell Cole ought to have at least tested Jones with a point blank header rather than clear the bar moments before Vics capitalised.

Once again Vics inability to keep a clean sheet appeared to have proved to be their undoing. There was little they could do about a superb DRURY strike that gave keeper Jones no chance. A dubious second yellow card for the hapless Darryn Stamp quickly followed and suddenly the complexion of the game had dramatically changed. Their most optimistic supporters could now be forgiven for fearing the worst for the ten men. As it was they dug deep into more encouraging reserves and were rarely tested culminating in a far more convincing outcome from a challenging situation than may not have been the case some weeks earlier.
