A second win on Lancahire soil within 4 days continued a satisfactory build up to Vics campaign for the coming season.
Vics dominated the first half without posing too many early threats until Jonny Allan replaced Aaron Burns and he quickly made an impact by volleying a Williams cross just over the bar. Suttton then went close before ALLAN further underlined his presence by planting an accurate header from a Barratt cross into the net. Worryingly for Vics Barratt, who was developing a growing influence on their game, was moments later forced to leave the field of play following a robust challenge.
Six further changes after the break initially led to a period of stalemate until Michael BYRNE cut in from the left to curl a precision shot into the top far corner of the net. New keeper Jones pulled off a fine save to maintain Vics two goal advantage before a BYRNE shot took a wicked deflection off a home central defender to add to their lead. Bailey headed over the bar when well placed before Vics were punished for a period of shabby defending that allowed the home side to reduce, somewhat flatteringly, the deficit by two goals.
Sutton was again outstanding at right back and Matty Crowell impressed in a midfield anchor role while Jonny Allan continued his rehabilitation from injury with a degree of style. On the negative side Dino Maamria will not have been pleased that his team conceded two goals against mediocre opposition.
