Weymouth 2 v 0 Vics

Vics went back to the bottom of the league again and on the evidence of this display there appears little to encourage you to believe that matters can dramatically improve. Lee Steele did provide some late momentum when he came off the bench but for much of the game Vics looked a bottom of the table outfit.

Virtually all the goal mouth action was in the Vics box and Vernazza and Robinson both went close early on. Chris Williams did deflect a Brown free kick narrowly wide with the home keeper clearly out of position but otherwise it was The Terras that looked the most threatening.

Connett blocked a Roberts header on the line and Jefferson Louis followed up to clip the bar. Robinson fired over from 15 yards and it appeared that Vics were to survive until half time when McCALLUM waltzed through three weak challenges to score with a left foot drive.

Chris Coward, an 18-year-old striker on loan from Stockport County, replaced Tait at the start of the second half but the general pattern remained the same and only a vital block from Maylett and a follow up save by Connett prevented Louis from adding to the Weymouth lead. But that only delayed the inevitable and when Ryan Brown produced Vics best shot at goal, sadly it was an attempted clearance that almost found his own net, LOUIS was able to take advantage of the resultant mayhem to secure the points.

A second 18 year old loanee from Stockport, defender James Tunnicliffe, entered the fray but by now it was all incidental. Lee Steele did provide some late bite and almost scored at the death but Stewart smothered on the line. Otherwise it had been another fruitless and frustrating long journey for the small band of travelling fans.
