Northwich 0-1 Salisbury

There was a disappointing crowd of under 700 that watched VICS slip to their 21st league defeat of the season and given that 30 league games have now been played it is very obvious why relegation is more than just a threat or possibility! Results elsewhere now mean that VICS are 12 points away from the position of safety (5th from bottom) and realistically we will be competing in the Blue Square North next season.

In all honesty VICS didn't really deserve to lose this game but having said that they certainly didn't deserve to win it either! Indeed this was a very drab affair with both sides seemingly unable to put two passes together and watching the offerings it felt as though the ball was in the air almost as much as its was on the ground! The first half had little of note to offer with neither keeper having to make any save of note. In the second half VICS had the first real chance of the game when Hanley and Burns combined well only for the latter to shoot high and wide when pressurised by the visiting keeper.Cook headed wide for the visitors before in the 83rd minute TURK scored the only goal of the game and it was a goal that, from the home side's point of view had a good degree of luck about it! Byrom wasted a free kick for VICS and Salisbury quickly cleared it up field and although two VICS' defenders had chances to win back possession the ball found an attacker who appeared to be coming back from an offside position – his shot was well saved by Edge but it bounced away to the advancing Turk who fired home. VICS pushed Belle up front in an attempt to grab a pint but it was too little too late and VICS' current line up feels as though we are a club readying ourselves for next season in a division lower.
