It was another case of the unattractictive side of Vics Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde's performances gaining the upperhand in another disappointing display.
The introduction of loan signing Greg Young and the re-appearance of Kieran Charnock certainly had a benefecicial effect on the the team, but otherwise they continued to look lacklustre in the final quarter of the pitch while looking all too vulnerable to basic set pieces at the rear.
An unevenftful opening lasted longer than most neutrals may have wished for until Bastians accepted a Young pass to get to the byline and hit a low cross that Townson was close to connecting with and then when Mayman colected and floated his cross back into the box Dodds glanced a header narrowly wide.
All too familiar to their current plight Vics quickly fell victim to a sucker punch. The home side broke to win a corner and from the Affill kick BROUGH rose unmarked to score with a well placed header.
Initially the second half appeared far more promising and after a bout of early pressure Townnson deftly set up Dodds but his left foot shot lashed the side netting. That proved to be the last contribution of the once more disapointing Townson and he was replaced by Michael Byrne. Moments later Vics found themselves back on level terms when Mayman provided skill and vision to set up BASTIANS and he collected his 30 yard pass to score with an accomplished finish..At this point all was looking well and a second ought to have come when Elliott floated a free kick onto the head of Carr barely 7 yards from goal but he distressingly failed to find the target.
Sadly the cost of this miss was irretrievable. 7 minutes later indecisive defending allowed Russell a sight of goal and his shot was deflected invitingly into the path of STONEHOUSE who gleefully drove a shot into the roof of the net.
Despite substitutions and much effort there was little evidence that Vics were going to pull things back and clearly both an exercise in raising morale and a rethink, especially in terms of set pieces, is required in the immediate future.
