Peter Wilson reports from Radcliffe:
Radcliffe Borough 1 v 1 Vics
Vics dominated this game for long periods but despite some slick passing rarely produced the necessary end product and eventually paid the price when the home side were able to share the spoils with a very late goal.
Kieran Charnock came close to registering a rare goal as early as the 1st minute but his far post header was deflected wide for a corner. Byrne intercepted cleverly to set up Williams but his finish was comfortably saved.
Another good move involving Williams and Brown ended with Byrne being denied at the near post by a brave Simon Kelly intervention. Vics continued to totally dominate and the lively Byrne saw his goal bound shot turned over the bar by Danny Hurst. Yet for all their domination Vics were struggling to produce an effective end product and despite Townson striking the bar and Byrne following up to fire wide it was difficult not to feel disappointed when the half time whistle blew with honours no more than even.
Steve Burr introduced former Sheffield United and Boston United midfielder Lee Thompson after the break along with Neil Brisco, Peter Handyside and Carlos Roca.
Townson and then Byrne, by far and away Vics best player on the night, had early shots saved before Eames indicated the home side may yet have a say in the final outcome with a shot that just cleared the bar.
Andy Heald worked a couple of dangerous crosses from the left as the game became marginally less one sided. Gallimore replaced Brown before Vics finally took the lead with an expertly worked goal. Battersby found Brayson and he cleverly freed the ubiquitous Byrne whose angled shot was only parried by the keeper leaving HANDYSIDE to score a rare goal from close range.
Sale replaced Townson and Rutter replaced Brayson as Vics looked to seal the win. Yet, in truth, only another shot from Byrne that flew inches wide proved to be the best they could produce and at the death MILLER was on hand to convert a left wing cross to earn an unlikely draw.
