Report on Vics' record breaking win at Worksop from PETE WILSON:
Vics displayed all the neccessary components of a successful side in a thoroughly professional display which earned them a club record 14th straight win.
However,it was the hosts who drew first blood when Saunders headed a right wing free kick back across goal from the far post to enable OLDHAM to score from close range. Gradually Vics began to gain the upperhand and Sale was again wide with a header from a Mayman cross. But as the pressure began to build McCarthy determedly moved forward to allow ALLAN the opportunity to create space for himself and beat Sollitt with a firm shot which he squeezed inside the post.
Vics took immediate command of the second half and, after Sale headed an Elliott free kick wide, Carr headed a Mayman cross wide and then thundered a 25 yard shot inches wide of the post. With the pressure increasing, and following two corners in immediate succession, Sale glanced a header across goal and the fleet-footed Roca kept the ball in play and delivered a cross to the far post for HANDYSIDE to head his first goal for the club. Norton did have a shot saved by Rogers but otherwise Vics remained in control leaving the final result in little doubt.
