Peter Wilson reports on VICS fourth win on the trot: Vics 2 v 0 Hucknall Jonny Allan ensured that his team got off to a match winning start by bagging a brace of goals in the opening 21 minutes. After that Vics played with a refreshing assurance that suggested that there would be several twists and turns to be negotiated before any predictable final outcome can be considered regarding who finally takes the accolade of champions of the Conference North. The ever-enthusiastic Allan was in the thick of things from the start and after he had shot narrowly wide from 12 yards, Byrne and Mayman went close from close range. Therefore it came as little surprise when Vics took the lead and even less of a surprise that it should be Jonny Allan that was at the centre of the action. Elliott gained possession to take advantage of the singular skills of Paul Brayson to carve out an opening for ALLAN to score with a well executed left foot finish from the edge of the box. The industrious Carr worked an opening for the increasingly effective Byrne to rap a shot against the bar and Lindley did particularly well to keep out the follow up attempt from Allan. Yet a determined Vics were not to be denied and, following more decisive approach play from Elliott, the ubiquitous ALLAN again found enough space for himself to be able to complete another accomplished finish from the edge of the penalty area. To Hucknall's credit they refused to lie down and be steamrolled by the impressive Vics momentum and even began to wrest the initiative away from their hosts. Morris fired over from a good position and Pearson finally forced Rogers into a meaningful save. The Vics keeper was then further tested by Pearson and from the subsequent corner Timons headed narrowly over the bar. Nevertheless Allan almost delivered his hat trick on the stroke of half time when he met a left wing cross with the most well timed of finishes only to be denied by an outstanding Lindley save. Vics regained much of the initiative in the second half and, with a two-goal cushion, it has to be said that the result rarely, if ever, looked in doubt. Brayson and then Allan caused problems in the visitors defence, which resulted in two hurried, fortuitous and unimpressive punched clearances from Lindley. Rogers was forced to make an outstanding save from a Timons header but by this stage the points appeared secure and Carr and then substitute Williams may well have added to the score line..
