NAME: MICHAEL BYRNE

POSITION: Striker/Midfielder

DATE OF BIRTH: 14 MAY 1985 PLACE: Manchester

MARITAL STATUS: Has a girlfriend, Emma

PREVIOUS CLUBS: MANCHESTER UNITED, CREWE, BOLTON, STOCKPORT COUNTY. Michael made sufficient impression as a schoolboy representing Tameside to be invited to train with Manchester United before spending 4 years at Crewe Alex. As a 14 year old he signed for Bolton before joining Stockport County.

BEST MOMENTS OF HIS CAREER: Making his Under 21 debut for Wales. Winning a league title with Vics and being involved in the FA Cup run that took them eventually to Sunderland.

HIS WORST MOMENT: Finding out that his former Wales Under 21 colleague Matty Crowell had signed for Vics.

THE MOST IMPORTANT GOAL HE HAS SCORED: Scoring on his Football League debut for Stockport County against Notts County.

THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON HIS CAREER: Mum and dad, known to many regular fans home and away. It takes a brave person to criticise Mike when mum is within hearing distance!!!!

WHO DOES HE RATE AS HIS MOST DIFFICULT OPPONENT: He came up against Paul Gascoigne playing for Everton while he was at Bolton.

THE PLAYERS WHO HE MOST ADMIRES: Ian Rush and Paul Gerrard. (As a Manc I’m not sure that he isn’t just keeping dad, who is a Liverpool fan, sweet with this one)

THE LOUDEST MANAGER(S) HE HAS PLAYED UNDER: Dino Maamria at Vics and Carlton Palmer at Stockport County.

WHO ARE HIS BEST FRIENDS IN FOOTBALL: Andy Welsh (Yeovil Town). Danny Williams & Jonny Allan at Vics.

WHICH TEAM DOES HE SUPPORT: Manchester City.

WHAT OTHER SPORTS DOES HE PLAY: Snooker

HOBBIES: Playing Poker.

MUSIC: R & B, Dance and Motown. And the last cd he bought was Hed Kandi.

WHAT WOULD HE HAVE BEEN HAD HE NOT BEEN A FOOTBALLER: Coaching football to young people. He has been involved with Jon McCarthy coaching the Academy players for a while now. If he hadn’t gone into football he would have probably opted for a career in computers
