WE’RE STAYING UP……!!!!!

What a season, from near extinction in October to safety and a bright new future in May. Congratulations to Dino and the team and Jim, Nick and Ian, you’ve done us proud.

Over 400 fans voted for Player of the Season. The winner was ……Lee Steele, with Michael Welch second, Ryan Brown and Scott Tynan were joint third. Paul Stockton presented these awards after the Cambridge match, with additional presentations to Dino, Mike Marsh and Jim Rushe, Nick Bone and Ian Campbell.

The team and management all expressed their gratitude to the fans and optimism for the future. The team entered the pitch before the Cambridge match with a banner stating, "Vics supporters we love you. Together we did it"

It’s a great time for the Trust, with the opportunity to be able to work with the Club and actively contribute to its success. We are now seeking nominations from people who would like to be on the Trust Board (details below); YOU could really make a difference.

AWAY TRAVEL

The Team stayed over in Devon this month due to the kind donations of Vics fans. The Trust Board authorised a donation of £500 towards the cost and also organised various collections which resulted in a cheque for £1710 being handed over to Jim Rushe before the trip.

Although the results went against us, the performances turned in by the team at both Exeter and Torquay were impressive, winning plaudits from opposition fans and much belying our current position.

The Trust then laid on free travel to the Stevenage match on 22 nd April. The 'extra' man effect had the desired result and we've come away with 3 points and safety.

MEMBERS BENEFITS

As reported in the last newsletter, we have now sponsored 3 matches – Weymouth, Farsley and Grays, giving silver members the opportunity to be the match day sponsors for the day. We will be continuing this in the beginning of the new season, to ensure that all silver members are offered the option to take advantage of this hospitality package.

The football club have agreed for Trust members to have a 10% discount off replica shirts. To take advantage of this offer, please present your membership card at the Club Shop.

TRUST BOARD

Brian Edge, Paul Stockton and Maggie Nixon have all completed their 2 years and are required to stand down as required by our rules (although they can seek re-election).

This means that there are 10 places available on the Trust Board, to work alongside Peter Grimes, David Moilliet and Andy Woolley, and the co-opted members. Nominations are invited from any eligible trust member.

A full set of guidance is available from Maggie Nixon (tel 01773 821255), or available from the Trust Website at www.nvfc.co.uk in the downloads section. (Trust News / Downloads)

In summary, Board members must be an adult member of the Trust (over 18 years of age) and must not meet any of the criteria in our rules that excludes a person from being a board member i.e.:

be subject to a bankruptcy order or have in place a composition with their creditors

be subject to a disqualification order made under the Company Directors Disqualification Act

have been convicted on indictment for an offence (other than a spent conviction as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974)

be (or on the basis of medical evidence may be) suffering from mental disorder

fail to abide by the rules for the conduct of elections

Being a board member means the following commitment:

Attend board meetings regularly (the rules require at least 4 meetings per year, typically they are once every 6 - 8 weeks, unless there is a crisis / significant issue)

Submit to re-election / re-appointment every 2 years

Not acting in any way calculated to bring the Trust into disrepute

not making public statements on behalf of the Trust, other than in relation to their formal position, or with pre-agreement of the Board.

(Saying all this, it is more fun than it sounds!!!)

We would like to be able to do more work with the Club and more work in the Community, and the more people that we can have on the Board to spread the load, the more we will be able to do, so please do consider standing for election.

If you are interested, please complete a nomination form (copy attached) and return it to the address on the form or email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . The closing date for nominations is 13th May 2008.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The AGM for 2008 will be held at the Floatel on Tuesday 24th June. (There’s no Euro 2008 match that night, so get the date in your diaries!)

We will send out an agenda along with the details of the people standing for election, as soon as possible.
