Hinckley....

We were all quick to post about the teams failings against Droylsden (see the 3 or 4 seperate threads!) but today was an excellent team showing.
Any feedback/comment from others?
I thought we did well against a decent team tbh.
Aspden looked shakey in goal, but Kerr did well, Vermiglio worked hard without contributing much quality.
Can someone tell Aspin to "stop the cross"? I thought he had a good game on the whole - but he gives the wingers far to much space.
Riley "in the hole" worked well - him picking the bits up from Dutton and Spencer worked superbly in the first half.
Dutton and Spencer worked hard up-front, again, without providing any real quality. Spencer would be a class player if he had a yard of pace, sadly, he doesnt and thats why he's on-loan with us!
Connor added some energy in the 2nd half, but struggled to get into the game. Danks didnt have a sniff at goal, so hard to judge.
Man of the Match for me was Matt Bailey.
A good point away from home.
Where are Ryan Brown and Aaron Burns??

Fair reflection on the game that i would say.
i thought a point was fair overall.
to me we looked really un-fit and looked as if we were stuggling to run towards the end of the game.
ryan brown was on the bench and i believe burns is onloan at conas Quay

Fair assesment.
Decent performance and a good point away at one of the better teams in the league. Would have took the draw beforehand.
Right back is far too much of a weak spot and becomes a target from other sides.
Silly bookings again, which need to be ironed out.
Kerr and Clarke played well, possibly Vermiglio outshaded them both for MOM for me.
Big gap in the middle once he and D'Laryea left the field. The stadium announcer had a mare. Awful attempt at pronouncing JD's name. Even worse was JD's miss!
Spencer could have done with replacing 10 mins earlier.
Maybe could have sneaked a win with the chances but against 3rd in the league away, a draw is a good result.

i thought aspden played well...kerr did look a bit shakey at the back but everyone else played well. danks missed a golden oppertunity at the end, but apparently there was a strong penalty shout towards the end i think i missed it?

Suprise, suprise. We bounced back from the mauling we got in midweek against Droylsden to record a creditable draw against a good side. I said we would!
On the game, fair result. We had the better of the first half and could have been out of sight if we had a bit more composure in front of goal.
Second half, I was dissapointed that we allowed them back into it. The goal seemed to kill the lads off a little and from then on we never really looked like scoring in the second half.
Key moments - The D'Laryea miss that would have seen us win and the ref's decision not to send their forward of for that disgusting tackle on Kerr. Oh, and Preece should have put Danks on a lot earlier to have a more telling impact. Was dissapoined with Connor when he come on as well barring that brilliant attempt he made to keep the ball in play almost straight after he came on.
Overall a good result against a good team. Both teams played with a very nice tempo and passed the ball. I wouldn't say Hinckley are as good as Droylsden, Fleetwood and Southport but with us they are in that next batch of teams. I was impressed with the whole set up tbh, they had a fantastic ground (rivals ours imo) and I thoroughly hope that they survive as a football club.
So that's 5 months now since we lost away from home in the league. That is excellent by any team's standards and is even more reason for me to feel happy. For this to be a good point we have to beat Redditch who we honestly should(I urge caution after our home showing against them!)beat.

I see Hinckley disposed of Southport this evening 4-1 - makes our draw look even more creditable
